Return on Investment: Higher Spending, Lower Graduation Rates
A new report by the Center for an Educated Georgia finds that Peach State graduation rates are significantly lower than they were a generation ago -- even though per-pupil spending more than doubled over the past 25 years.
The report, Return on Investment? Increased Spending, Lower Graduation Rates, determined that total spending per student -- adjusted for inflation -- jumped 69 percent in the U.S. and 119 percent in Georgia between 1979-1980 and 2004-2005.
