Featured Small Business Member November/December 2011

In 1993, Atlanta’s Red Brick Brewing Company became the first craft beer brewery in the Southeast. Almost 20 years and multiple regional, national and world brewing championships later, Red Brick has certainly gone through plenty of change as a company. But their tradition as a successful small business (12 full-time employees) and offering of innovative and quality products have kept them on the top of the South’s rapidly-growing craft beer industry with no sign of slowing down.
This month, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize the Red Brick Brewing Company as the Chamber Small Business Council’s first small business spotlight company.
Red Brick went under its most significant change in 2006 – a rebirth of sorts - when Robert Budd took over operations of the brewery. By May of 2007, the new management team including Budd, Richard Fowler, Anthony Rodriguez, Robert Fabbrini, and Phil Jacobs opened the doors of the new Red Brick brewing facility on DeFoor Hills Road in Atlanta. Their “rebirth” did not take all that long; by October of the same year they won their first national championship and have received multiple awards in the years following.
Red Brick’s unique brewing process maintains a commitment to quality as much as it protects the environment. Their brewing is completely clean, with all of the brewing byproducts shipped to farmers for feed. In addition, no emissions are released into the environment and all water used in production either is used in the product or returned back into the water supply system.
Currently the Red Brick Brewing Company’s product line includes a blonde beer, brown ale, pale ale, porter, and newest product addition, the I.P.A. Tours and tastings are available for visitors Wednesday through Friday. To date, tour passes have been purchased for visitors from forty-two states. The facility is also available for special events, parties, meetings or fundraisers.
