The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education was founded in 1990 and today is working hard to be Georgia's foremost change agent in education. The non-profit, non-partisan independent organization consists of business, education, community and government leaders who are focused on efforts to shape policy and reform public education in the state.

Our Mission: Inform and influence Georgia leaders through research and non-partisan advocacy to impact education policies and practices for the improvement of student achievement.

Education Policy Forums End June Run; August Sessions Planned

Every election year the Georgia Partnership and the Georgia School Boards Association join to offer half-day presentations for local school board and state legislative candidates.  The Forums provide an excellent foundation for education decision makers.  The Forum finished its June 10-city tour in Savannah Thursday.  Three additional sessions in August are planned for Decatur (Aug. 26), Augusta (Aug. 27) and Warner Robins (Aug. 28). Read more. 

Where Do Presidential Candidates Stand on Education Issues?

Board Meeting Focuses on 'Raising Achievement, Closing Gaps'

The Georgia Partnership quarterly Board meeting was held Tuesday, May 6 at the Loudermilk Center in Atlanta.  More than 100 people attended the meeting that featured a presentation on achievement gap issues by a representative from The Education Trust in Washington.  Visit the "Quarterly Board Meetings" page for more details and the PowerPoint presentation.

'Business to Business' Magazine Examines Education's Influence

The Atlanta-based business monthly took a close look in its April edition at how the dropout rate affects economic development.  Partnership President Dr. Steve Dolinger is the primary source for the report.  Give it a read.

Partnership Part of Commission for School Board Excellence

The Georgia Partnership, as well as several other organizations including business representatives, has been asked by the State Board of Education to work with the education community to study effective methods of school board governance.

Bus Trip XV Videos Provide Inside Look at 2007 Event

Bus Trip XV conducted in September and October last year was a big success.  More than 200 education stakeholders from across the state participated in the annual event that serves both to praise achieving schools and to share best practices.  The long video is 27 minutes long.  The shorter, promotional video, is seven minutes long.  Visit the "Annual Bus Trip" page for details on both the 2007 and 2008 tours.

If you click on the "Research and Issues" page of this site you see included at the bottom a "Good Reads" tab.  We have reorganized that page to make it easier to find the wealth of education information we continuously gather from a variety of sources.  This information is a cross between more formal research papers you will find under the "Research and Issues" umbrella of topics and the "Hot News" daily articles that are posted on the site.  Campaign 2008 - Under the "Print" section of "Good Reads" you will find links to the Presidential candidates' positions on education.  Give it a look!
