Hundreds of lives are lost each year as a result of an inadequate trauma care network in our state. While Georgia needs at least 30 trauma centers, there are currently only 17. As a result, trauma related deaths occur more frequently than the national average.
Deficiencies in Georgia’s Trauma Care network are a direct result of insufficient funding. That is why the Chamber supports the identification of a sustainable dedicated source of funding for this critical need and believes that those funds should be allocated in accordance with the formula established by the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission.
