Federal Health Care Reform Resource Center

On March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (HR 3590), a sweeping overhaul of the nation's health care system.

HR 3590 is expected to provide government-run health coverage to millions of Americans who are currently uninsured -- but it will do so through new taxes and fines on businesses, workers and health plans; hefty subsidies for and mandates on the middle class; and higher costs, fewer choices and reduced access for the majority of Americans who already have coverage.

With health care costs more than doubling for employers and employees over the past decade, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce will continue to advocate at the state and federal level for innovative, free-market solutions that expand access to affordable, private coverage. The Chamber will also provide timely updates on HR 3590's impact on our members as this landmark law is implemented over the next few years:
