Vote 'Yes' on Amendments 1, 2 and 3

Georgia voters have a unique opportunity this Nov. 4 to help bring in thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars in new investment to jumpstart our economy -- while at the same time protecting our environment and preserving our air and water quality for future generations.

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce encourages members to vote 'yes' on each of the three ballot amendments being offered this November and to encourage co-workers, neighbors and friends to do the same.

US Congress Passes Economic Stabilization Act of 2008

On Friday, October 3, 2008, the United States Congress passed and the President signed the Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, a bill intended to stabilize the nation’s financial markets by freeing up credit and ensuring taxpayers that their investments are safe.

Georgia Chamber Urges Members to Conserve Fuel

With gasoline prices rising and crude oil supplies in the Gulf of Mexico temporarily interrupted, fuel conservation is necessary to help manage the supply of fuel and reduce the effect of higher fuel costs.  The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is asking its members to help with fuel conservation.  Some fuel efficiency tips include:

  • Drive sensibly:  Speeding, rapid acceleration (jackrabbit starts), and rapid braking lowers gas mileage.   
  • Choose the right vehicle:  If you own more than one vehicle, drive the one that gets better gas mileage whenever possible.  
  • Decrease speed:  Gas mileage decreases rapidly when driving more than 60 miles-per-hour.  
  • Avoid idling:  Idling gets zero miles per gallon.  Cars with larger engines typically waste more gas while idling than cars with smaller engines.  
  • Inflate your tires:  Keeping tires properly inflated improves gas mileage.

Democracy is Under Attack in Washington!

Georgia's reputation as a great place to do business has attracted companies for decades.  With relatively low union membership across our state's workforce, employers and employees have worked together to build and maintain a healthy business environment while Georgia's "right to work" status continues to attract new investment.   

Today, a union-led attack on democracy in Congress threatens to dramatically alter the workplace -- not only here in Georgia, but across the country.

Georgia Chamber Members Thank Congressional Members and Staff

US Representative Sanford Bishop and members of the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives enjoy the Congressional & Staff Appreciation Reception.

Over 300 members of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce traveled to Washington on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, to show their appreciation for Georgia's Congressional delegation and their staff. The trip, which included an appreciation luncheon and reception, also provided an opportunity for business leaders from throughout the state to visit with their representatives and discuss issues of importance to Georgia.
