Georgia Ports Authority to Host Garden City Terminal Tour The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) is hosting an information discussion and tour of the Garden City Terminal and surrounding facilities in Savannah. This event is a great educational and behind the scenes opportunity to learn about a fantastic international asset here in Georgia.
The formal agenda is being finalized; however, the program will tentatively run from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 26.

Power Lunches to Kick Off on May 6 in Duluth Our first Power Lunch is fast approaching! Our Power Lunches feature Georgia Chamber Board Chair Suzanne Sitherwood (Atlanta Gas Light) and President and CEO George Israel and focus on the issues most important to our state's business community.

Nominations Now Open for Blanchard Award for Stewardship and Ethics The nomination period is now open for the second annual Blanchard Award for Stewardship and Ethics. Named after Columbus banker and civic leader James H. Blanchard, the award honors an individual who is an outstanding community leader and role model for corporate responsibility. Nominated individuals may reside anywhere in the state of Georgia.

Georgia Chamber Helps Launch "Hire Work Ready" Program To help Georgia small businesses defray the cost of on-the-job training, the Governor's Office of Workforce Development (GOWD) and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce have launched a new outreach program called Hire Work Ready. Utilizing American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) support, the program is designed to provide funding to small businesses - those employing 50 or fewer - that hire Work Ready Certified people to assist with costs associated with hiring and training of new workers.
