Georgia Launches "Hire Work Ready" for Small Business
On February 11, Governor Sonny Perdue and Georgia Chamber President and CEO George Israel announced the launch of Hire Work Ready, a program that will provide cash incentives to small businesses who hire Work Ready certified employees. Under the program guidelines, companies with less than 50 employees can receive $250 per Work Ready certified individual hired, with a limit of $1,250 total. "Georgia Work Ready is one of our state's strongest economic development tools because it ensures we have the best possible workforce," said Israel. "By hiring Work Ready certified individuals, our state's small businesses can enjoy all the benefits larger employers enjoy - great productivity, lower training costs and higher morale." It is estimated that Hire Work Ready will place 2,000 certified Work Ready individuals into jobs across the state. To apply for this program and learn more, visit the Work Ready website at www.gaworkready.org.
