Be on the Lookout for our Legislative Updates The General Assembly completed the first week of their 40 day session on Friday having elected a new Speaker, Representative David Ralston (Blue Ridge), in addition to hearing the Governor's annual State of the State Address and receiving the Governor's FY2011 budget proposal. Governor Perdue also announced two significant legislative proposals - one addressing transportation funding and the other changing the way teachers are currently paid. The Georgia Chamber will provide additional details about both of these proposals as the legislative drafts become available.
The legislature is in recess this week for budget hearings and will be back in session on Monday, January 25.
Be on the lookout for legislative updates every Monday beginning next week. Updates will be sent by email and also posted on line at www.gachamber.com, where you can also read about the Georgia Chamber's legislative priorities for this year.
