Red Carpet Tour’s 50th Anniversary set for April 8-11, 2009
Approximately 45 guests from around the world will visit the state for the 50th Anniversary of the Red Carpet Tour scheduled for April 8-11, 2009. It kicks off in Atlanta at a reception at Atlanta’s newest boutique hotel, The Mansion on Peachtree, a Rosewood Hotel. The guests will then attend dinner at the governor’s mansion, hosted by Gov. Perdue, followed the next morning by a short flight to Augusta aboard Red Carpet One, a Delta Air Lines chartered jet. While in Augusta, guests will attend the opening day of the Masters® Golf Tournament. The guests will return to Atlanta on Thursday night. On Friday morning, the Tour will include breakfast and “Georgia Business Report” mock live recording in the studio of Georgia Public Broadcasting. Through live interviews and video clips, the Red Carpet Tour guests will hear from John Rice with GE and Arthur Blank, with the Arthur Blank Foundation. Friday night the guests will enjoy a special evening in Atlanta.
On Saturday, guests will attend the third round of the Masters®, then head back to Atlanta, where they will board flights for the trip home. It’s a sure bet that the guests will be taking a lot of positive impressions and fond memories of their visit to Georgia. The economic development experts at the Georgia Department of Economic Development will follow up with each Red Carpet Tour participant and, if the past is any indication, some of them will make the decision to locate or expand in Georgia.
Daryl Ingram, Managing Director, Economic Development with MEAG Power will chair the 2009 Red Carpet Tour. Jeff McCoy, Senior Vice President, International Corporate Banking, with BB&T in Atlanta will be the Atlanta Region Chair.
