Don't Miss the Georgia Chamber and Georgia Press Association Gubernatorial Forum on June 17 The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring a gubernatorial candidate forum with the Georgia Press Association on Thursday, June 17 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center. Georgia Chamber members are invited to attend the forum, which will begin at 1:00 p.m. and be moderated by Georgia Press Association Legal Counsel David Hudson.
This forum is a chance to get information directly from the candidates about issues that affect business every day. Please reply to communications@gachamber.com to confirm your attendance or for more information.
The New Federal Health Care Law: What Does it Mean for Business? The new federal health care legislation leaves a lot of unanswered questions, especially for business owners who want to know how it will directly affect their companies. Mark your calendars now for an event on July 13 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Atlanta (Buckhead) that will explain the legislation in more detail, debunk rumors and answer any questions you may have.
Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, will be the guest speaker at this important event. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be at noon.

Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education to Co-Present Education Policy Forums The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education and the Georgia School Boards Association are presenting education policy forums for candidates and community leaders throughout June. These half-day sessions provide key insights into the complicated education process -- funding, Georgia's Race to the Top application, expansion of charter schools, the economics of education, and other emerging issues -- and are invaluable for decision-makers, especially during this challenging economic time.
