An Economic Development Tradition Continues For over twenty years, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce has invited business executives from around the world to Southwest Georgia for three days of Southern hospitality, unparalleled quail hunting, and a first-hand tutorial on all Georgia has to offer. The 21st Annual Georgia Quail Hunt continued this fine tradition, hosting over 25 expansion and relocation prospects from February 4 – 6, 2009, in Albany and the surrounding area. "Georgia's comparatively low cost of living, high quality of life, and strong pro-business climate have allowed us to attract top-quality businesses to our state. In today's economy, it is more important than ever that we keep Georgia top-of-mind and remind corporate decision-makers why they should locate or expand here," said George Israel, president and CEO of the Georgia Chamber. Since 1994, quail hunt guests have invested over $1.25 billion in Georgia and created more than 7,400 new jobs through corporate relocations or expansions. "This event provides a unique opportunity for participating prospects to get to know both business and government leaders," added Dr. J. David Allen, who chaired this year's hunt. "They leave with a great sense of what it would be like to do business in Georgia." Governor Sonny Perdue, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle and business leaders representing 14 corporations from throughout Georgia participated in the three-day event, which is co-sponsored each year by the Georgia Allies, the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, and the Southwest Georgia Chamber Council.
