Candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General to Participate in Conference Calls
The Georgia Chamber will host three (3) conference calls with candidates in the state's top November races throughout the next few weeks.  Don't miss the chance to hear from the candidates themselves on issues that impact the business community!  Each candidate will speak and answer questions during specific time slots. Wednesday, October 13:  Gubernatorial Candidates

Participation Urged in Annual Bus Trip and Apply to College Week
Two upcoming events will provide opportunities for businesses and other community leaders to engage in improving Georgia's education landscape. Annual Bus Trip Across Georgia: Sponsored by the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, this annual event will be held on October 26-28, and will showcase seven greater metro area schools that are making a difference in student achievement. Business leaders in these communities are encouraged to come and learn first-hand the secrets of success in each school. Schools on the 2010 Trip include:  the Da Vinci Academy at South Hall Middle School, Gainesville; Norcross High School, Norcross; Sawyer Road Elementary School, Marietta; KIPP South Fulton Academy, East Point; The New Schools at Carver, Atlanta; Charles E. Apply to College Week:  During the week of November 8-12, participating high schools will help students establish their GAcollege411 account and navigate the college application process. For many underserved students, this is a challenging process and may even be their first chance to realize that college attendance is an achievable goal.  A strong cadre of community leaders is needed for two to three-hour periods to assist and mentor these students. Georgia Employers' Association to Host Executive Update
The Georgia Employers' Association will co-host an Executive Update workshop on Wednesday, October 20, in Macon and Thursday, October 21, in Atlanta.  The workshop will cover both legal and technology improvement topics, including: The workshop is free and guests are invited to register at the location that is most convenient to them.  For more information, click here or contact David Whitaker at 478.722.8282.



World Chamber to Host Two Events in Atlanta
On October 21, the World Chamber will sponsor a Breakfast Meeting with the Turkish Minister of Industry and Commerce, the Honorable Nihat Ergun, at the World Trade Center Atlanta.  The breakfast will run from 7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. and will cost $15 per person, which includes breakfast and parking.  To RSVP, contact Lilia Postolachi at lilia@wtcatlanta.com. On October 28 and 29, the World Chamber will sponsor a Symposium and Annual International Awards Gala and Czech National Day Celebration at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead.  Thursday's symposium will feature a panel of international business leaders and educators speaking on the role of education in global business and profiling Georgia/Czech trade companies. The symposium will be followed by a networking reception. The following night, a VIP reception for sponsors and dignitaries, followed by a festive Awards Gala honoring individuals, companies and organizations that are raising the profile of international education and trade in Georgia will be held.  Reception includes a dinner, silent auction, entertainment and dance.  Sponsorship and ticket information for this event can be found at www.worldchamberc.org/meetwcc.
