What is a Certificate of Origin?

A Certificate of Origin (CO) is a document which states the origin of goods being exported. Virtually every country in the world considers the origin of imported goods when determining what duty will be assessed on the goods or, in some cases, whether the goods may be legally imported at all.

Chambers of Commerce are the primary authorized body to stamp these documents.

In addition to being required by specific countries, a CO may be requested by customs administrators, importers, freight forwarders or banks for clearance of letters of credit. Electronic Certificates of Origin (eCO), created online, are the digital version of the document.

How quickly can I get my Certificate of Origin stamped and back to me?

Our average turnaround time is under an hour.

One of the major benefits to electronic Certificates of Origin is how quickly they can be stamped and back to you, even after business hours, on weekends and holidays! During normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8-4p.m. EST) we can have it back to you before the end of the workday. If you anticipate having a tight deadline, or you need one right away, just give us a call at 404.223.2261 and we will do our best to get it back to you immediately.

If it's after business hours, on the weekend, or even during a holiday, we can still guarantee turnaround within 24 hours.

How much does it cost?

To best serve the business community, we are proud to offer a guaranteed processing time of 24 hours or less on all submissions! You have the option of choosing to have your submissions rush-processed if you submit them after business hours, on weekends and holidays.

If you do not want your COs rush processed, you may note that in your submission and you will only pay the standard fee ($25 members, $75 non-members) and your CO will be processed the next business day.

How do I get started?

Members and non-members can create a free account HERE. There is no obligation to begin submitting documents, and no cost to you, so create an account to check out the system today!

Once you've created an account you can: add additional users from your company (called 'signatories'), establish freight forwarder relationships (link to your client accounts), or start submitting Certificates of Origin and other documents.

How do I submit my documents?

Log in to your account, and choose one of two ways to submit your information:

Webdocs –Enter your shipment information, and the eCertify system will create a CO for you. Learn how: eCert Webdocs
eCert Submit – Simply upload your .pdf documents. Learn how: eCert Submit

Click "Submit", and the Chamber will review and stamp your documents. You'll recieve an email when your documents are ready. You'll be able to view and share a proof of your stamped document.

Click "Accept" the stamped document, and follow the Paypal link to purchase your documents. Now the document file is yours!
