Gov. Deal Issues Mandatory Evacuation

In preparation for Hurricane Matthew, Gov. Nathan Deal has issued a mandatory evacuation east of Interstate 95 for six coastal counties. The six counties include: Bryan, Chatham, Liberty, McIntosh, Glynn and Camden.

Along with the opening of shelters throughout the counties mentioned above, Gov. Deal has also activated 45 members of the Georgia National Guard to assist state and local public safety and transportation officials.

We ask that everyone please pay attention to the severity and importance of this new update by Gov. Deal. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of our investors, partners and communities throughout the coastal region,” says President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber, Chris Clark. “We encourage our local chambers to help one another in the next few days as Hurricane Matthew strengthens and begins to make landfall.”
