Chamber launches Georgia Transportation Alliance
A new Georgia Chamber affiliate focused on Georgia’s long-term transportation planning and how it ties into the state’s economic development was officially launched last week. Emphasizing the critical role a quality and versatile transportation infrastructure plays in Georgia’s success, the Georgia Transportation Alliance (GTA) will be working with state and local officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders throughout Georgia to encourage transportation planning that is conducive to growing the state’s economy.
GTA will work with each of Georgia’s 12 economic development regions starting this summer to help pass the one-cent T-SPLOST on the ballot next year. Future initiatives will focus on the growth and expansion of Georgia’s logistics, ports and airport network. GTA will also work to alleviate road congestion, improve the state’s rail and highway system, create multi-modal transportation networks, and connect rural communities with the rest of the state. An executive director will be hired this spring.
