Georgia Competitiveness Initiative
The Georgia Competitiveness Initiative (GCI) is bringing state government and the business community together at the request of Governor Nathan Deal to develop a long-term strategy for economic development. GCI meetings began in June and will continue through the end of August in each of Georgia’s 12 economic development regions.
The Region 8 GCI meeting will be Wednesday, August 10 in Columbus, and Macon will host the Region 6 meeting on Thursday, August 11.

2011 D.C. Fly-In: Georgia Chamber’s Leading Legislative Event
We hope you will join us for the Georgia Chamber’s annual D.C. Fly-In – now a two-day event in our nation’s capital. The 2011 D.C. Fly-In will take place September 13-14, and this year’s itinerary allows our members to meet with the Georgia Congressional delegation, members of the U.S. House of Representatives leadership team, and public policy experts. House Speaker John Boehner, Budget Chairman Paul Ryan and Charlie Cook, editor and publisher of the Cook Political Report, are all scheduled to participate. Additional events include a reception with federal officials and their staff and a breakfast and roundtable discussion with U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson.

Georgia Chamber Business Champions Classic: October 3
The 2011 Georgia Chamber Business Champions Classic Golf Tournament will be held on October 3 at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta. The 2011 tournament will include time at the practice range, a shotgun start, forecaddies, lunch, mini-contests on the course, a closing cocktail reception and an awards ceremony. China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Event
On August 31, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade will sponsor a half-day event to establish B2B relationships for Georgia business leaders to meet more than 40 Chinese companies and 60 government officials from Zhejiang Province, China. The delegation from China will represent enterprises from the following sectors: agriculture, electronics, textiles, lighting, international logistics, machine parts, and government.
