Having a competitive legal system that is advanced in its methods of handling civil matters is a matter of importance for all businesses. Whether or not you are in need of the system, it affects the cost of doing business in Georgia, and can positively or negatively impact companies that re looking to relocate or expand here.
While the Georgia civil legal system is highly rated by measures and assessments taken by many national groups, continued improvements and monitoring is required to ensure fair and equal treatment for all pursuing the system. In addition, efforts must be made to modernize and streamline our civil system in order to reduce costs and ensure the system is available for timely resolution of justifiable cases.
As our statewide membership has spoken loudly and clearly, the Georgia Chamber opposes any attempt to weaken the civil justice reforms enacted in 2005 under SB 3. As this legislation is tested in court, the Chamber will continue to monitor pending cases and offer amicus support, as needed, to protect important business positions.
