2011 International Policy Statement

International Trade– With the increasing need for businesses to think globally in this economy, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of international trade policies that expand markets and the demand for Georgia products by other countries.  We believe the free trade model is good for the state of Georgia and promotes international commerce, and we encourage the expansion of free trade between Georgia and our key trading partners by serving as marketing ambassadors and generating interest with companies who wish to expand or establish their presence in Georgia.   

Specifically, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce supports:

• legislative and regulatory efforts that will expand Georgia’s ports – including  supporting the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project-- and boosting Georgia’s position as the preferred gateway to the U.S. on the east coast for incoming and outgoing products;
• the development of a dedicated logistics corridor between Savannah, Macon, Atlanta and beyond to facilitate and encourage the transport of goods moving in and out of Georgia; and 
• expansion of international routes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport along with the necessary infrastructure to support those routes.
