Red Carpet Tour Highlights Benefits of Doing Business in Georgia
The 46th annual Red Carpet Tour, sponsored by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, hosted thirty-seven business executives, representing companies in twenty states and three countries, April 6-9.
The 2005 Red Carpet Tour included stops in Metro Atlanta, the Northwest Georgia Region (Rome/Dalton) and Metro Augusta. Enthusiastic business executives, community leaders and volunteers from each region played a major role in the success of this year’s economic development marketing program. The Georgia Chamber and state hosts have already received evaluations, emails and thank you notes from guests praising the preparation and teamwork that went into creating the experience of a lifetime for them.
The Georgia Chamber would personally like to thank Herbert Short, Partner, Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan LLP, who chaired the 2005 Red Carpet Tour State Host Committee. We would also like to thank Meredith Melvin, ALLTEL Communications, who chaired the Atlanta regional breakfast program, Otis Raybon with News Publishing Company in Rome and Matt Jackson with BB&T in Dalton, who co-chaired the Northwest Georgia regional program. Phil Wahl with Bank of America and Deke Copenhaver with the Central Savannah River Land Trust, Inc., in Augusta, also deserve a great deal of credit for their work as co-chairs of the Metro Augusta regional program.
Plans for the 2006 Red Carpet Tour (April 5-8) are already well underway. Valdosta has been chosen to be the third region visited on next year’s Tour. The 2006 itinerary will be finalized at the end of May during a Red Carpet Tour Site Selection Committee meeting.
Charlie Gatlin, the Chief of Staff for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, will chair the 2006 Red Carpet Tour State Host Committee. Marshall Conner with Georgia Power in Valdosta will chair the Valdosta regional program next year.
