On Tuesday, August 15, the Georgia Chamber hosted their annual Congressional Luncheon in Macon, Georgia. This signature event brings Georgia’s most influential business and community leaders together to celebrate everything that makes Georgia a great state to live, raise a family, and do business.
With over 2,000 attendees, this year’s Congressional Luncheon continued to prove the importance of collaboration among elected officials, community champions, and business leaders throughout the state. Influencers like Miss Georgia 2017, U.S. Congresswoman Karen Handel, and U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson are just a few examples of the leadership that came together to join the conversation about strategizing how we ensure Georgia continues to be the best state to live, work, and do business.
While the annual Congressional Luncheon serves as a networking opportunity for all attendees, this event also serves as a platform for leaders and influencers to discuss important issues that directly impact our state and country. One of many issues addressed at this year’s luncheon was unity.
“We must all stand up for those who would employ hatred and evil to divide us, for we know there is no place in a civil society or in our society for racism or anti-Semitism,” said U.S. Congresswoman Karen Handel.
That same message resonated throughout the program with a concurrence from Georgia Chamber President & CEO, Chris Clark, U.S. Congressman Austin Scott, keynote speaker Dr. Larry J. Sabato, and was concluded by thought-provoking remarks from U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson.
“What happened in Charlottesville, Virginia didn’t just happen in Charlottesville, Virginia, it happened in America,” said Isakson.
“Events like this are a constant reminder why the work we do is so important for all Georgians. Having these important conversations with statewide leaders in the room allows us to strategize and work together to keep Georgia the best state to live and work,” said Georgia Chamber President & CEO Chris Clark.
Our 2017 Congressional Luncheon was a huge success. Thank you to our presenting sponsor, AT&T, and all other sponsors, partners, and guests.
