After a hot Georgia summer, you may be looking to cross another item off your bucket list. If journeying to a far-flung locale is in the cards for you this fall, look no further than the Georgia Chamber’s adventure to Iceland this September.

Our team has prepared an itinerary focused on offering you the experience of a lifetime. To give you a sneak peek of what’s in store, we detailed out your exciting first day in the historic city of Reykjavik.

Once you arrive in Iceland, you will be met by your private local guide at the airport and set off to enjoy breakfast at Viking World Café as you take in the magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean. Following breakfast, wander through one of the top museums in Iceland, Viking World. You’ll get up close and personal with ancient Viking artifacts, including the first Viking ship to sail to Iceland in 870 A.D.

After leaving the museum, get a feel for Reykjavik, often called the greenest city on Earth. You will see the Höfði House, best known for the 1986 summit meeting between U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev effectively marking the end of the Cold War. Also, enjoy the Perlan Restaurant and the presidential residence at Bessastadir.

Later that day, you will visit Hallgrim’s Church, the University District, as well as the Old Town Center and modern City Hall. That afternoon, admire the artwork of Ásmundur Sveinsson and Einar Jónsson, both famous Icelandic artists. In the evening, get to know your fellow travelers over a relaxing welcome dinner as you sample gourmet Icelandic cuisine.

We hope you’re as excited as we are about visiting Iceland this September. The only downside? Spots are filling up quick and there’s only a few more weeks to register! Please contact lgray@gachamber.com or visit our website at gachamber.com/iceland for more information.
