Tuesday, May 16th, voters in Cobb and Fulton counties headed to the polls and elected Dr. Kay Kirkpatrick to represent them in the state senate. Overshadowed by the special election in Georgia’s 6th congressional district, the special election in state senate district 32 set a turnout record for special legislative runoffs in Georgia. Over 32,000 people voted in this election, a 25% overall turnout. Kay Kirkpatrick (R) received 57% of the vote while Christine Triebsch (D) garnered 43% of the vote.

Senator-elect Kirkpatrick has served as an orthopedic surgeon in the metro Atlanta area for 30 years and has previously served as the president of Resurgens Orthopaedics. Active in her community, Kay and her husband live in Marietta.

As a great pro-business candidate, the Chamber looks forward to working with Senator Kirkpatrick in the future.
