Atlanta’s New Year’s Eve tradition of over 30 years will take a new turn this year with a location change for the annual Peach Drop. The new site is just a few blocks from Underground Atlanta at Woodruff Park. Each year, the Peach Drop draws roughly 100,000 people to celebrate Georgia’s own version of the Times Square ball drop where the 800-pound peach will descend to ring in the new year on Sunday, Dec. 31. Earlier this year, the City of Atlanta completed the sale of Underground Atlanta to a South Carolina real estate company, which is currently in the process of renovating the downtown attraction.

Access points to Woodruff Park for the Peach Drop will be located at Auburn Avenue and Park Place, Edgewood Avenue and Park Place, Peachtree Street and Edgewood Avenue and Peachtree Street and Walton Street. The event is free and opens at 5:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Live entertainment is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
