Greetings,

It was just last week that Hurricane Irma plowed through Georgia, claiming three lives and leaving many without power for days. While our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by this catastrophic storm, both myself and the Georgia Chamber team would like to give a personal thank you to a few folks who went above and beyond helping Georgians get back to everyday life.

First and foremost, I’d like to thank Governor Deal for making it his #1 priority to keep all Georgians safe by working alongside GEMA to expand necessary state of emergencies, and to ensure that essential resources were made available both before and after the storm.

I’d like to also thank our members and friends at Georgia Power Company and Georgia EMC for working around the clock to restore power to residents and businesses all over the state. To the Georgia Department of Transportation, thank you for improving roads, bridges, and mobility for Georgians returning home after the storm, and for keeping us all safe.

Lastly, thank you to all of our statewide officials and emergency personnel for monitoring conditions, using social media as a means to effectively communicate important statewide updates, and for risking your safety for the greater good of others.

To the everyday heroes who have donated, volunteered, and cared for those impacted, I personally cannot thank you enough. It is because of individuals like you that we can come together and rebuild as one. If you’re interested in donating to Hurricane Irma victims, you can do so via American Red Cross, here.
