Just last week, business leaders and cultural influencers from around the state joined us for the trip of a lifetime to Iceland! Named one of the top travel destinations in 2017, Iceland did not disappoint. This eight-day adventure started in the capital of Reykjavik, the country’s largest city. Attendees had the opportunity to tour historic museums, visit the striking Hallgrim Church, known for being the tallest church in Iceland, and admire the artwork of Ásmundur Sveinsson and Einar Jónsson, both famous Icelandic artists.

The highlight of the trip was touring the Golden Circle, a ring of Iceland’s most magnificent natural wonders. Stops included Thingvellir National Park, the Great Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss, the most powerful waterfall in all of Europe. Among other things, attendees ventured into the picturesque countryside enjoying views of lush farmland, breathtaking waterfalls, volcanos, and some of the South Coast’s most popular black sand beaches.

A trip to Iceland wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa infused with mineral-rich waters. The final and most adventurous day of the trip was spent walking through ice tunnels and exploring Langjökull Glacier, Iceland’s second largest glacier.

“Wow, what a place – I am so thankful I pushed myself to go on this trip,” said trip attendee and Georgia Chamber board member Joe Mullins, President of Mullins Management.  “The tour guide was one of the best I have ever had; He was so informative and accommodating. I am thankful for this rare opportunity to see such a special place, and look forward to more trips with the Chamber!”

We’d like to thank everyone who ventured with us to Iceland! Next up on the Chamber’s travel list is beautiful Colombia.
