ATLANTA – Today, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement commending the Georgia Public Service Commission for unanimously voting to implement a three-year electric rate freeze that will provide stability for Georgia’s businesses and families, while ensuring fair costs for smaller consumers. The Georgia Chamber provided public testimony in support of the rate freeze during the June 26 Public Service Commission hearing.

Katie Duvall, Senior Director of Government Affairs at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce said:

“The Georgia Chamber and our tens of thousands of members across the state commend the Georgia Public Service Commission for their thoughtful regulatory approach in locking in base rates through 2028. At a time when many businesses are grappling with inflation, labor costs, interest rate pressures, and global instability, the ability to plan around stable energy costs is a competitive advantage.

“Today’s unanimous vote from the Georgia Public Service Commission strengthens Georgia’s reputation as a top state for business. When companies are choosing where to grow and invest, they look for reliability, affordability, and predictability in energy infrastructure. This rate freeze sends a clear message: Georgia is a smart place to do business. The Public Service Commission agreement strikes the right balance—supporting affordability for customers, ensuring fairness in how costs are shared, promoting transparency in cost recovery, and helping secure Georgia’s future as a leader in economic development.”
