Brought to you by GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce
(ATLANTA) — The Georgia Chamber of Commerce and GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students are pleased to announce a new initiative that promotes family-friendly practices in workplaces and honors the Georgia employers that embrace them. The Best Place for Working Parents ® Georgia is a designation achieved through an easy online self-assessment at the national BP4WP site. The Georgia Chamber and GEEARS have both earned a 2025 Best Place for Working Parents designation. Employers that make the cut earn a badge of honor to display on their websites, signage, and other collateral—a signal of commitment to workers’ families, their work/life balance, and their health and happiness.
What led to this partnership?
Individually, both GEEARS and the Georgia Chamber have illuminated the critical connection between family-friendly workplace policies and productivity, retention, job satisfaction, and attraction. National research indicates that no business can ignore this imperative.
To celebrate the Georgia businesses that invest in these solutions, GEEARS and the Georgia Chamber teamed up with Best Place for Working Parents ® to launch a designation for Georgia.
Tasha Allen, SHRM-CP, Vice President of Talent Management and Diversity of the Georgia Chamber said:
"Managing both home and work life can be a challenge for anyone. Working for an employer that understands that challenge can make the load much lighter. Parents want to work, but they also need their employers to work with them.
We are excited to partner with GEEARS to increase awareness of the full scope of family-friendly policies available for employers to be the best places to work for working parents."
Daniela Perry, Executive Director of the Georgia Chamber Foundation said:
“Family-friendly policies help businesses and their employees succeed. The Best Place for Working Parents is a critical tool to foster conversations among employers and employees to identify which policies and practices are genuine difference makers. As a working parent, I see the importance of these measures every day to balance workplace and family commitments. The Georgia Chamber Foundation looks forward to our partnership with GEEARS to increase economic opportunity for Georgia families and their employers.”
Mindy Binderman, Executive Director of GEEARS said:
"GEEARS is thrilled to bring The Best Place for Working Parents to Georgia. Businesses with family-friendly workplace policies truly deserve to be honored for their commitment to employees’ families, their work/life balance, and their health and happiness. BP4WP is also a powerful resource for organizations who are just beginning their journey toward these policies. Other companies' ideas and innovations show us all what's possible, be it flexible work hours, paid family leave, or lactation rooms for nursing moms. The options are as diverse as employees’ wants and needs."
What exactly are family-friendly practices?
There are numerous ways to support employees and their families. Organizations can provide paid family leave or physical and mental health benefits. Maybe a business has a work-at-home policy or flexible hours. Perhaps there’s an office lactation space for pumping moms. Maybe there’s even an on-site childcare program. The possibilities are as diverse as employees’ wants and needs.
Why should businesses apply to be a Best Place for Working Parents ® Georgia?
The cost-free self-assessment tool is a breeze that can be completed in three minutes. Yet its reward is great. A designation positions an organization among the leading family-friendly businesses in the U.S. This marketing win can impress potential clients and employees alike. Best Place for Working Parents ® is also a resource for organizations who want to build and improve upon their family-friendly success stories.
Why is this a compelling story?
With the effects of the pandemic still reverberating through our workforce, now is the time to tell the stories of Georgia companies that value their employees with measurable, effective benefits—and earn high rewards and returns from that investment. For your storytelling, we’re happy to connect you with business leaders who’ve achieved Best Place for Working Parents ® Georgia designations.
