"To all the members of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce,

As you know, Governor Brian Kemp took a generational step to protect Georgia’s economic competitiveness by signing into law SB 68 and SB 69, the two bills in his meaningful, comprehensive tort reform package. I once again thank Governor Kemp for his resolute leadership in championing tort reform in Georgia. By signing SB 68 and SB 69 into law, Governor Kemp took decisive action to protect Georgia’s families, small businesses, farmers, medical community, and our overall economic strength.

The Georgia Chamber thanks Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, Speaker of the House Jon Burns, and legislative sponsor Senator John F. Kennedy for their instrumental roles in passing both SB 68 and SB 69. We also commend the Georgia State Senate and the Georgia House of Representatives for consistently voting in a bipartisan manner to pass this important legislative package.

The enactment of these new laws caps off 20 years of legislative advocacy from the Georgia Chamber.

We would not have seen yesterday’s bill signing without the steadfast advocacy of Georgia’s families, small businesses, farmers, medical professionals, local chambers of commerce, and every Georgian who wants to keep our state ranked number one in the nation for doing business.

Your advocacy, your engagement with the Georgia Chamber, and your voices kept tort reform at the forefront of everyone’s minds at the Capitol—and most importantly, you helped carry tort reform all the way to Governor Kemp’s desk.

So, thank you for everything you did over the last two decades that led to yesterday’s bill signing. Thank you for being leaders in Georgia. Thank you for helping fulfill the Georgia business community’s promise to do right by Georgians by restoring balance to the civil justice system—so our courts can focus on justice, not jackpots.

We still have more to do together to ensure Georgia remains a beacon of economic opportunity, and I’m heartened that our partnership is stronger than ever.

Once again, thank you for all you did in support of tort reform. It’s a great day in the state of Georgia."

God bless,

Chris Clark
