The Georgia Chamber Endorses Lauren “Bubba” McDonald for District 4 Public Service Commissioner Runoff

Runoff election is set for January 5, 2021

Atlanta, Georgia – Thursday November 12, 2020 – The Georgia Chamber announces its endorsement of Lauren “Bubba” McDonald for District 4 Public Service Commissioner. After working through the endorsement process, business leaders from across the state are confident that McDonald’s decades of business experience will lead to effective policy decisions to positively impact free enterprise and job creation in Georgia.

“Georgia’s future depends on our ability to provide reliable and affordable energy options to our citizens,” said Bubba McDonald. “I have been a strong advocate for energy efficiency while in office and will continue to serve our business community and its citizens, should they vote for me in January.”

McDonald has moved the needle to support a diversified fuel mix including nuclear, solar, and natural gas in Georgia. In his last term, the commission supported an additional six months delay in disconnections for customers who struggled the most and supported a payment installment plan to give struggling customers six months to pay accumulated debt as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

“Bubba McDonald is a proven pro-business advocate in Georgia and presents a thoughtful energy policy voice on the national stage” said Chris Clark, Georgia Chamber President & CEO. “His leadership has produced continued, critical infrastructure investment and a readiness for state utilities to efficiently respond during crises. The Georgia Chamber is proud to endorse McDonald in the upcoming runoff election and we look forward to working with him in our state, if elected.”

The runoff election is scheduled for January 5, 2021. To learn more about Lauren “Bubba” McDonald, please visit https://psc.ga.gov/about-the-psc/commissioners/lauren-mcdonald/.
