Cynthia George has more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience in Marketing and Development.  In February of 2018, she joined Horizons Community Solutions (previously named South Georgia Cancer Coalition) as CEO.

Her career began at WALB in the 70’s where she hosted the noon show “Town and Country”.  Later she joined Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where she served 25 years in various leadership roles including Vice President of Marketing, Government Affairs and Strategic Planning.

Prior to joining Horizons, Ms. George was the Interim Chief Advancement Officer at Darton State College and continued at ASU through consolidation of the two institutions.

Ms. George is a past Albany Area of Chamber of Commerce Chair and has served in numerous leadership roles with civic organizations in Southwest Georgia.  But, her most rewarding and gratifying role has been as co-founder of Strive2Thrive. S2T is an anti-poverty organization that provides a hand up instead of a hand out, helping people in Dougherty County turn their life around. S2T provides training, education, and mentor support to families.

A native of Leesburg, Georgia, George graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Public Relations.  She was the first woman elected to the County Commission in Lee County and served two terms in public office from 1992 to 2000.  She was most recently recognized as one of seven 2018 Distinguished Alumni from Lee County High School.
