Lisa Billups attended Old Dominion University and received a degree in Accounting. After working for several fortune 500 companies i.e. IBM, Xerox and Lockheed Martin.  She completed the master of social work at Florida A&M and served as the Director of the Florida Advisory Council on Early Education and Care in Tallahassee, FL. While there she established and strengthened critical partnerships with multiple organizations providing early childhood services such as Head Start, Redlands Christian Migrant Association, Healthy Start Associations, and several local providers and businesses in each of the key regions in the state. She also spearheaded an early childhood statewide initiative to support parental engagement.

After locating to Thomasville Lisa served as a parent volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club and also served on the Board. She and her husband became very active foster parents and adopted their youngest son. In April 2014 Lisa was named the Executive Director of the Thomasville Community Resource Center which provides afterschool programs and wellness services for families.
