Georgia Chamber Hosts Annual Congressional Luncheon
More than 1,300 attend bi-partisan event in Macon
Atlanta, Georgia – August 11, 2022 – On Tuesday, August 9th, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Congressional Luncheon in Macon, Georgia at the Edgar H. Wilson Convention Center with a sold-out crowd. Each year, the luncheon brings together over one thousand business leaders, state and federal elected officials, and community champions from all regions of the state.
Among those in attendance were, U.S. Representatives Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07), Rick Allen (GA-12), and Buddy Carter (GA-01) who participated in panels on the War for Talent and the Infrastructure of the Future. Congressman Sanford Bishop (GA-02) spoke to the Chamber’s Board and offered the official welcome and Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) provided closing remarks at the event.
“Our Congressional Luncheon offers an incredible opportunity for elected officials to network with Georgia’s most prominent business and community leaders,” said Georgia Chamber Chairman Ben Tarbutton, III. “The record number of attendees this year affirms our organization’s focus on the New Georgia Economy, fighting inflation, addressing labor shortages, building the infrastructure of the future, and improving innovation and economic inclusion matters to job creators and our long-term economic prosperity.”
Keynote speaker Frank Luntz, political communications consultant and pollster gave an in-depth commentary on the national political landscape including recently conducted polling on how Americans feel as the country moves towards the next general election. Luntz stressed the importance of unity, compromise, and bipartisanship to address the growing national political divide.
Preceding the luncheon, the Georgia Chamber convened the fall meeting of its Board of Directors and Board of Governors.
